Forklift Hire Perth
We hire counterbalance forklifts from 2.5 tonnes to 5 tonnes across the Perth metro area. They go to warehouses, yards, building sites and anywhere a pallet has to come off a truck and go somewhere else.

Rough terrain options for building sites, not just flat hardstand

Rated Capacity Is Measured At A Load Centre
Every forklift is rated to lift a specific weight at a specific distance out from the fork face. That distance is the load centre, and 600mm is the standard it is quoted at. Push the weight further out and the safe capacity drops away fast.
So a 2.5 tonne forklift is a 2.5 tonne forklift for a compact, evenly packed pallet. Give it a long or awkward load and the same machine is rated for considerably less. It is the single most common reason a hire turns up and cannot do the job.
The number on a forklift is its rated capacity at a standard load centre, which is not the same as the heaviest thing it can pick up. Get that wrong and the machine either will not lift your load or lifts it unsafely, so tell us the weight and the shape and we will size it properly.
Delivered to site and collected when you are done. Short hires, weekly hires and long runs on a project all work the same way.
What To Tell Us When You Book
- The heaviest single load, and roughly how far the weight sits out from the forks
- Whether the load is on pallets, in bags, in a crate or loose
- The highest you need to lift it, and whether anything is stacked above head height
- The surface it will work on, and whether it ever leaves the hardstand
- Any doorway, container or roof height it has to pass under
Attachments Change The Rating Too
Fitting a jib, a rotator or extension slippers moves the load further out and adds weight of its own, so the machine's safe capacity drops again. If you are planning to use an attachment, say so at the booking and we will size the forklift around it rather than around the bare forks.

Call Us NowThe Tyres Decide Where A Forklift Can Go
A forklift that is perfect in a warehouse can be useless twenty metres away on graded sand. The difference is the tyre and the ground clearance, not the lifting capacity.
Standard Counterbalance
- Built for concrete, bitumen and compacted hardstand
- Smaller wheels, low clearance, tight turning in a warehouse
- Happier indoors and around loading docks
- Bogs down or scuffs badly on soft sand and loose fill
- The pick for yards, sheds, storage and transport depots
Rough Terrain Forklift
- Big lugged tyres and real ground clearance
- Handles graded sand, gravel and an unsealed site road
- Wider, so it needs more room to turn
- Overkill on a slab, and harder on a finished surface
- The pick for building sites and anywhere off the hardstand
Tell Us Where It Actually Drives
Not where the load starts, where the machine travels. A forklift working off a truck at the kerb and carrying into a shed crosses two surfaces, and the worse one decides the machine.

Who Is Allowed To Drive It In WA
In Western Australia a forklift is high risk work. The operator needs a current high risk work licence for forklift truck operation, issued through WorkSafe WA, and it has to be the right class for the machine.
A car licence does not cover it, and neither does years of experience without the ticket. Site inductions will ask for it and so will your insurer after an incident.
Check the current requirements with WorkSafe WA if you are unsure which class you hold, because the classes changed and an old card does not always cover what people assume it does.
No Ticket, No Dry Hire
We will not release a forklift to a site that cannot show a licensed operator. That is not us being difficult, it is the condition the machine goes out under. If the ticket is the problem, ask us about supplying an operator with the machine instead.

Setting A Perth Site Up For A Forklift
The Five Things That Stop A Forklift Working
- 1A gate or door lower than the mast when it is closed down, which is taller than most people expect
- 2A soft edge between the hardstand and the work area, where the front wheels drop in
- 3Nowhere firm and level to unload
- 4Pallets that have been rained on and lost their strength, so the forks go through them
- 5Stacked material with no straight run to it, forcing the machine to reverse the whole way
Measure The Closed Mast Height
The number that matters for getting in the door is the machine's height with the mast fully lowered, not the height it lifts to. It is the measurement people forget, and it is the one that turns a delivery around at the gate.

Start with the heaviest single load and how far its weight sits out from the forks, not with a tonnage. A 2.5 tonne machine handles a compact pallet comfortably but is rated for much less on a long or awkward load. Tell us the weight, the shape and the lift height and we will size it.
Yes. Forklift operation is high risk work in Western Australia and the operator needs a current high risk work licence of the right class, issued through WorkSafe WA. A driver's licence does not cover it. If nobody on site holds one, we can supply an operator with the machine.
A standard counterbalance forklift cannot, it is built for concrete and hardstand and will bog or scuff. A rough terrain forklift with lugged tyres and proper ground clearance handles graded sand and site roads. Tell us where the machine drives, not just where the load sits.
We deliver it, the same way the rest of the fleet travels. We need somewhere firm and level to unload, ideally off the road. Send a photo of the access with your enquiry and we will confirm it works before the truck is booked.
Anything from a day to a full project run. Short hires suit a delivery or a stock move, weekly and monthly rates suit a build. Tell us how long you expect to need it and we will price the term rather than the day.
