A machine that stops mid-job costs more than the repair. It costs the crew standing around, the day the client loses, and usually a second machine mobilised at short notice to finish what the first one started.
Scheduled servicing to the manufacturer's hours is unglamorous and it is the whole difference between a fleet that runs and a fleet that limps. Hours, not months: a machine that works hard reaches its service interval faster than the calendar suggests.

Service intervals are set in machine hours because that is what wears an engine out. A digger that has done three hard weeks can be further through its interval than one that has sat around for three months.
What To Tell Us When You Call
A useful call gets the right parts on the ute the first time. A vague one gets a diagnosis trip and then a repair trip.

A photo of the display and a photo of where the oil is coming from tells us more than a description does, and it means the right hose or sensor is on the vehicle when we arrive.

Make, model, serial number if you can find it, the hours on the meter, what the machine is actually doing, when it started, and a photograph of any fault code on the display. That is usually the difference between one trip and two.
Yes. A pre-purchase inspection on a used machine, particularly one going through auction, is worth doing before the money moves rather than after. Undercarriage, hydraulics and engine condition are where the expensive surprises live.
